If you don't mind a bit of heat, every gardener should grow fresh jalapenos. One plant will produce dozens of fruit that will eventually ripen from green to red. The strain we grow will get fairly large and resists 'checking' on the outside where the skin can get lines of rough and wrinkled skin.
